FPT Partners with EVNGENCO1 to Host Automation Workshop, Bridging the Gap from Strategy to Execution on Akabot Platform

Hanoi – Recently, Power Generation Corporation 1 (EVNGENCO1) partnered with FPT Corporation to organize a specialized workshop on operational optimization and productivity enhancement through Akabot process automation solutions. The event marked a significant milestone in the strategic collaboration between the two organizations, underscoring their shared commitment to leveraging technology to address productivity and operational efficiency challenges in Vietnam’s power sector.

The workshop was conducted in a hybrid format, both onsite and online, with the participation of EVNGENCO1’s leadership team, representatives from FPT Corporation, Akabot experts, and more than 100 managers, specialists, and employees from EVNGENCO1’s departments and member units nationwide. The event forms part of EVNGENCO1’s comprehensive digital transformation roadmap, which the corporation is actively and systematically implementing.

Addressing the Energy Sector’s Dual Challenge

EVNGENCO1 currently operates the largest power generation capacity among Vietnam’s power generation corporations, with an installed capacity of approximately 7,100–7,800 MW, accounting for nearly 9% of the national power system. Alongside its mandate to ensure energy security, the corporation faces increasing demands to optimize operating costs, enhance supply reliability, and strengthen risk management amid a competitive electricity market.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Tran Nam Trung, Deputy General Director of EVNGENCO1, emphasized that technology adoption must be closely aligned with practical needs and the corporation’s operational characteristics. Automation, he noted, is not only about accelerating task execution but also about standardizing processes, improving productivity, and reinforcing discipline in corporate governance.

EVNGENCO1 views digital transformation as a structured, well-planned journey that requires careful evaluation at each stage. This workshop provides us with a more comprehensive perspective on technology solutions, enabling us to gradually identify and select the most appropriate approaches to ensure operational efficiency and long-term sustainability,” Mr. Tran Nam Trung stated.

Mr. Bui Dinh Giap, Director of Operations, New Products and Services Business Division, FPT IS, FPT Corporation, shared: “EVNGENCO1 is demonstrating a strong pioneering role in digital transformation, with a clear focus on building an organization that embraces innovation and applies technology to core operations. FPT IS is honored to accompany EVNGENCO1 by delivering proven technology solutions, empowering teams to master technology, proactively redesign processes, and implement automation in an effective and sustainable manner.

FPT Accompanies EVNGENCO1’s Digitalization Strategy

In 2021, EVNGENCO1 and FPT signed a strategic cooperation agreement on digital transformation, aiming to enhance technological collaboration and improve production and business efficiency across the corporation. The recent workshop represents the next step in materializing this partnership, expanding cooperation from digital infrastructure to direct applications in plant operations and office functions.

As a strategic technology partner, FPT introduced Akabot to EVNGENCO1, featuring Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and AI-powered Agentic Automation technologies. Akabot is FPT’s hyperautomation ecosystem and one of the few globally recognized “Make in Vietnam” technology platforms, serving more than 4,000 customers across 21 countries.

A key highlight of the workshop was the live demonstration sessions showcasing power sector–specific business processes, allowing participants to gain hands-on insights into how “digital workers” operate and automate daily tasks.

From Awareness to Practical Action

Unlike conventional theoretical seminars, the EVNGENCO1–FPT workshop placed strong emphasis on practical application. During the event, EVNGENCO1 employees were divided into working groups to directly review and propose automation initiatives tailored to their respective units.

Under the guidance of FPT experts, each group developed and presented its automation proposals to a judging panel, evaluated based on technical feasibility and economic efficiency (ROI). As a result, nearly 20 high-potential processes across various functions—including Finance, Procurement, Engineering, and Administration—were identified and prioritized for further assessment and implementation in the next phase.

Representatives of EVNGENCO1’s leadership highly appreciated FPT’s thorough preparation and deep understanding of the power sector’s operational context. The collaboration is expected to deliver significant breakthroughs in governance and operations, supporting EVNGENCO1 in building a modern, transparent, and efficient digital working environment.

In the coming period, both parties plan to further analyze the proposed initiatives, select pilot processes, and establish performance measurement criteria. The outcomes of these pilot projects will serve as a foundation for scaling automation across EVNGENCO1’s member units, bringing the corporation closer to its goal of a data-driven, technology-enabled operating model.
